About me

I’m Izamara Peres.

Life coach and author of Il coraggio di essere fragile.

I support individuals and groups in their personal and professional choices. I pay particular attention to times when the roles and balances around which someone has built their life begin to change.

I learned to adapt early.

I arrived in Switzerland from Brazil when I was nine. I did not know the language, and I watched people closely to understand how to find my way. During one of the first dinners, I tried to copy how others used their cutlery. Before I could find the words, I learned through their gestures.

That attentiveness helped me enter a new school and find my place. As an adult, I recognised how often I kept adapting even when I needed to ask myself what I wanted.

In relationships, at work and as a mother, being able to respond to others’ requests had become an important part of my identity. Pausing allowed me to see where that ability helped me and where I was giving up a choice without really considering it.

Coaching entered my life through a personal question.

I encountered it while looking for tools to understand my reactions better and the decisions I kept postponing. The questions helped me observe some automatic responses and give myself time to consider a different answer.

Today, when someone tells me about a postponed choice, I want to understand why it has remained unresolved until now. A family commitment may carry a different weight from what I imagine; a possibility that seems interesting to me may require too great a sacrifice from that person.

Dance is part of how I see things.

Movement has been part of my life for a long time. In dance, your step also takes shape in relation to the other person’s: sometimes you need to wait a moment, and sometimes to make an intention clearer.

When I think about a group working together, that need to wait for one another comes to mind. Someone may know their own task well and still need to see how far the other person has got.

What you can expect in a conversation with me.

You can take time to describe an issue even when you find it hard to explain. I will ask about the steps I do not understand and the words you use: “I can’t”, for example, may point to a practical limit or a consequence you fear.

I share my observations so we can discuss them. If an interpretation does not fit your experience, I want to understand where I stopped at an impression or what I have not yet grasped. This requires me to reconsider my own perspective too, while you decide what meaning to give the conversation.

Writing helped me revisit my story.

In Il coraggio di essere fragile — La donna che ero destinata a essere I described the need to belong, motherhood and the moments when I had to reconsider my image of myself.

I chose a fictionalised form that protects those involved and reshapes some events. I wanted to make room for inner experience: what I had felt and the questions that had changed how I saw things.

Let’s get to know each other.

Write me a few lines about what you would like to change or achieve. We can talk about what you are looking for and establish whether my way of working suits you.
