Group coaching

Listening to another story can help you understand your own.

A small-group programme for working on a personal question through exchanges with other people’s experiences. A shared theme gives the sessions direction; each person explores it through their own life.

What the group brings to your programme.

When you describe a change, you choose the words and moments that matter to you. Someone listening may pause over a detail you dismissed quickly and ask a question you had not considered. You can offer that same attention to others.

Imagine someone describing how long it took them to feel at home after moving. You have recently experienced a similar change and blame yourself for not having settled in yet. Listening may lead you to reconsider the time you are allowing yourself. Or it may help you understand that your difficulty concerns something else, such as a friendship or habit you want to find a way to nurture.

Sessions include exercises and time for personal reflection as well as sharing. The common theme allows different experiences to be considered together. Each person can recognise which questions concern them and continue working on them throughout the programme.

You choose how much to share.

At the outset, we agree on how to take part in the conversation, respecting speaking time and the confidentiality of the stories we hear. You can participate while choosing to keep part of your experience to yourself. Sessions are not recorded.

My role is to give the work direction and make room for different voices. If the discussion turns towards giving advice, I bring attention back to questions and what each person can recognise for themselves. Decisions remain personal.

La Fenice: a programme for beginning again.

La Fenice is the special group coaching programme for anyone who wants to start again after a change and understand what they want to build now. It is open to women and men.

After the end of a relationship, for example, even the simplest habits may need to be reconsidered. You might have resolved many practical matters and still be wondering what you want from the days ahead. A change of job or role can raise similar questions.

La Fenice makes time for this transition. You can recognise which parts of your life you want to keep and which habits mainly made sense during the phase that has ended. From there, we begin exploring how you want to organise your time and relationships, taking account of the responsibilities that remain.

What we work on in La Fenice.

Looking

We start with the change you are experiencing. We name what has ended, what you want and the questions that remain open.

Letting go

We explore habits and expectations you continue to carry with you. You can recognise what still has value and what you want to stop sustaining, keeping real relationships and responsibilities in mind.

Choosing

We clarify the direction you want to give this phase of your life and the conditions that could make it achievable.

Beginning

We identify a step that depends on you. It might be a conversation, a request or time devoted to a project: something through which you can test the direction you have chosen.

How La Fenice works.

The programme includes an opening session to get to know each other and define the starting point, four stages of group work and a final individual session. In that last conversation, we gather what has emerged for you and the step you want to take forward.

Before joining, you have a brief introductory conversation with me. It helps me understand your question and establish whether the group programme is suitable.

The group is small and stays the same throughout the programme. The programme, schedule, session format and participation fee are provided before you commit to joining.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know the other people already?

You can come without knowing the other participants. The opening session also gives us time to introduce ourselves and agree on how we will work together.

Do I have to share private aspects of my life?

You choose what to share. You can also work through personal reflection and listening. We ask everyone to respect the confidentiality of the experiences shared in the group.

How does it differ from individual coaching?

In the group, you work on your question within a shared theme and encounter other perspectives. In individual coaching all the conversation time is devoted to the issue you bring. The introductory conversation helps establish which format could be most useful to you.

Is La Fenice group therapy?

No. It is a coaching programme devoted to the choices and changes you want to address. It does not include psychological or medical diagnosis or treatment. In the initial conversation, we establish whether your request falls within this scope.

How can I find out about upcoming editions?

Write to me for information about La Fenice. You can learn about the programme and conditions before deciding whether to take part. Asking for information does not enrol you.

Would you like to encounter other perspectives?

Write to me about what interests you in the group programme. I will introduce La Fenice, and we can explore whether the theme of beginning again fits the change you want to address.
